We offer a complete and comprehensive Women’s Health service. Our female doctors and practice nurse have many years of experience in dealing with women’s health, we provide a full range of women’s health services including:

Family Planning & Contraception

Our doctors are very experienced in family planning methods and we are delighted to assist in making the right choice for you. We offer pre-pregnancy care, fertility advice, blood tests and further investigation as needed. We are skilled in insertion of the Implanon and Intrauterine contraceptive devices – including the Mirena Coil.

We can also discuss other contraceptive choices including:

  • Oral contraceptive pill
  • Contraceptive patch
  • Contraceptive vaginal ring
  • Implantable progesterone device – “Implanon”
  • Intrauterine devices – “Mirena Coil” and “Jaydess”
  • Advice and referral information for sterilisation procedures for men and women.

In the case of the implanon and the coil our normal procedure is to have an initial consultation to fully inform you about the device and the procedure and we will make a second appointment for insertion of the device.

Ante-Natal Care

Our Limerick Doctors and nurses at Griffin Daly are delighted to take care of you and your baby throughout your pregnancy. This service is a FREE state-funded scheme to anyone ordinarily resident in Ireland under the maternity and infant scheme. It provides for a number of scheduled visits to your GP and maternity hospital and allows for pregnancy-related care only.

Post-Natal Care

Post Natal Care is the care of mum and the baby immediately after childbirth. The combined antenatal care scheme extends to the postnatal period to include 2 planned visits at 2 and 6 weeks for review of the baby and mother.
We are here to assess and advise on postnatal wounds, breastfeeding and breast pain/infections, infant feeding, postnatal depression etc.

Well Woman Check

Health checks for women can be arranged and tailored to your individual need. This can include cardiac/diabetes risk assessment, blood tests as required, smear testing, breast checks, Menopause advice/HRT, family planning and pregnancy advice. Find out more >>

Cervical Screening

HPV cervical screening was introduced in Ireland in March 2020, it is done in addition to your routine cervical smear. It is not a test for cancer, it is a test to help prevent cancer from developing by testing for the human papilloma virus (HPV).

This test is free of charge for women who are due a smear test under the national screening programme. You can check your eligibility for a free smear at www.cervicalcheck.ie

Menopause & Osteoporosis

We provide care during your menopause, helping in managing bothersome symptoms and associated risk factors throughout this life change. We can discuss your options including hormonal therapy if needed(HRT), screening for Osteoporosis (Brittle Bone disease), cardiovascular disease and breast screening as appropriate.
