Sports Medicine
Sports medicine involves treating sports injuries which occur when playing indoor or outdoor sports or while exercising. Sports injuries can occur for many reasons. Griffin Daly Medical Centre offers a specialised sports medicine clinic. We cater for athletes and sports teams of all levels from local clubs to international athletes.
The team, led by Professor Michael Griffin, provide a holistic approach to sports medicine assessing and treating the underlying cause of the problem, not merely the symptoms. We believe in a comprehensive approach with examination and assessment, followed by treatment and rehab plans, and further intervention and joint injections where required.
As a keen athlete and triathlete, Professor Michael Griffin is a leading Sports Medic. In 1999 he undertook an MA. Sports Medicine in UCC. He has been involved as Medical Officer with the Irish Soccer Team, Munster Rugby, Swim Ireland, Triathlon Ireland and with the IRFU for a number of years.
Dr. Griffin collaborated on the creation and delivery of a Musculo-Skeletal Course with the Faculty of Sports Medicine in UL, was appointed medical officer to the National Coaching and Training centre and assisted with Olympic Council.
