At Griffin Daly Medical Centre we are dedicated to the life-long care of our patients and their families and have many years of experience managing illnesses for your whole family throughout all stages of life. We have two locations, one in Limerick City Centre and a second in Castletroy near the University of Limerick. We are all highly trained and work closely as a team to offer a comprehensive range of GP services. We provide advice, we promote preventative medicine and we treat common, less common, acute and chronic illnesses in your whole family. We care for patients of all ages, from childhood into the senior years.

Children’s Health

All of our doctors specialise in paediatric medicine and have a wealth of experience caring for children and advising parents in a primary care setting.

It is our policy to endeavour to see an unwell child as soon as possible. If your child is unwell with a fever, or if you are worried, please let the receptionist know and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Men’s Health

In addition to regular GP services, we can provide relevant advice and screening for various conditions specific to men. These include:

STI Screening

We offer discreet and confidential STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection) Screening. We provide a range of options to suit your needs.
The main STIs that we screen for are Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphillis, HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C. Genital Herpes and Genital Warts are also assessed. Other non-sexually transmitted infections, such as Thrush and Bacterial Vaginosis are sometimes detected, and can be easily treated.

Venesection

We offer a venesection service for patients with a diagnosis of haemochromatosis. We screen for haemochromatosis using a simple blood test. If you have Haemochromatosis and want to arrange a venesection, or if you are interested in getting screened for Haemochromatosis, feel free to arrange an appointment with one of our doctors to discuss this further.

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy is a safe and effective way to remove skin lesions such as warts and skin tags, in addition to treating pre-malignant “sun damaged” skin in carefully selected patients.

Blood Pressure Monitoring

High blood pressure (Hypertension) is one of the major risk factors for cardiovascular disease including heart attack and stroke. While regular blood pressure checks are important to allow for early detection of this often symptomless condition, we also offer a 24 Hour Blood Pressure Monitor service which is the gold standard test for diagnosing Hypertension.

Joint Injections

Living with chronic joint pain can be debilitating with potentially detrimental effects on both physical and mental well-being. Our doctors at Griffin Daly Medical Centre are proficient at performing joint injections in suitable patients for medically appropriate conditions.
